Critical speed

Another important factor to be taken into consideration when selecting recirculating ball screws is critical speed. This depends on the type of support, on core diameter d_n and on maximum free (unsupported) length l₁. In practice, critical speed must be 20% higher than actual operating speed in order to provide a sufficient safety margin.
