Critical speed |

Another important factor to be taken into consideration when selecting recirculating ball screws is critical speed. This depends on the type of support, on core diameter dn and on maximum free (unsupported) length l1. In practice, critical speed must be 20% higher than actual operating speed in order to provide a sufficient safety margin. |
